Finnish soldiers could participate in eSports tournaments
The Finnish Defense Forces recognized eSports athletes as professional athletes and gave them equal rights. Now, Finnish professional gamers will be able to keep training and participate in tournaments during a service.
They will take military training along with other sports athletes. A specialized military sports school provides a greater amount of physical exercises, however, there is enough time to practice eSports skills.
A lot of eSports fans believe that this decision is related to the victory of the Team Liquid club in The International 7. Its player, Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN’ Urpalainen, is a citizen of Finland.
