Korea holds world leadership in Overwatch championships
The final competitions of the Overwatch World Cup 2017 have come to an end. As well as last year, the team from the Republic of Korea won the day. The silver of the tournament went to the Canadians, and the bronze – to the Swedes.
However, the victory didn’t play a great role as for finance. Each of the participating teams received $9 thousand (total fund was $360 000). As a comparison, in 2016 the total fund was less ($288 000), but 16 finalists of the championship received $18 000 each.
Blizzard holds the Overwatch World Championship only for the second time, and in the future the tournament rules can be changed. Nevertheless, the Korean national team is quite capable of retaining leadership for several more years. It should be noted that only 2 players were members of the team for two years in a row – Kim "zunba" Joon Hyuk and Ryu “Ryujehong” Je Hong.
